The key facts

Working towards a 1 November 2026 reopening

Effort is focused on making the main pool operational by 1 November 2026, in line with public commitments and Access Canberra's conditions.

Being sold as is — not being demolished

The site is being marketed for sale as is. The slides and existing buildings will not be demolished. There are no redevelopment plans associated with the site or its sale.

Under the control of the first mortgagee

The site is under the control of the first mortgagee. As financiers — not pool operators — their mandate is to sell the site as a going concern.

Existing lease applies to any purchaser

The current lease obligations will apply to any purchaser. Reopening work continues in parallel with, and regardless of, the sale timetable.

Where things are up to

  1. Site fencing and general clean-up · Complete

    Completed June 2026.

  2. Temporary ticketing, change rooms and food service facilities installed · Planned

    These will be installed to make the main pool operational and safe. A new internal fence will safely separate the main pool from the slides and existing buildings.

  3. Main pool operational · Planned

    Working towards 1 November 2026, in line with Access Canberra's conditions.

  4. Sale process · Planned

    The first mortgagee will market the site for sale. Sale enquiries will be handled by the appointed selling agent (Colliers).
