Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we’re hearing most. We add to this page as new questions come in — so if yours isn’t here, please send it through.
- Why is the site being sold?
- The site is now under the control of the first mortgagee. As financiers — not pool operators — their mandate is to sell the site as a going concern to recover their investment to date.
- Will the site be demolished or redeveloped?
- No. The site is being marketed for sale as is. The slides and existing buildings will not be demolished, and there are no redevelopment plans associated with the site or its sale.
- Will the pool still reopen in November?
- Effort is focused on making the main pool operational by 1 November 2026, in line with public commitments and Access Canberra's conditions. This work continues in parallel with, and regardless of, the sale timetable.
- Does the existing lease still apply to a new owner?
- Yes. The current lease obligations will apply to any purchaser.
- Who is responsible for the site?
- The site is under the control of the first mortgagee. All enquiries — about the site, the sale or anything else — are directed to the appointed selling agent, Colliers.
- I'm interested in buying or operating the facility. How do I take part?
- All parties with an interest in the facility are encouraged to engage in the sale process. The sale is handled by the appointed selling agent, Colliers — details will be published on the Sale page. In the meantime, you can register your interest via the Contact page.
- Can I get a price guide for the sale?
- There is no price guide available for the sale at this stage. Sale enquiries will be handled by the appointed selling agent.
